DJ HIXXY dives deeper still in part 2 of his four-part ROAR interview, as the South Coast happy hardcore don reveals the incredible story of how he broke his neck TWICE in the ’90s and how it has impacted upon his ability to perform ever since.
Hixxy – AKA IAN HICKS – also discusses the impact of ecstasy and game-changing nature of Slipmatt’s SMD1 on the rave scene, talks about how he created the hugely successful Bonkers compilation, and addresses the mid-90s scene split and the later artist meeting to save hardcore, which included suggestion of a name change for the genre.
Plus we discuss his and Sharkey’s infamous tune featuring the lyrics in this episode’s title which, ahem, somewhat divides opinion in the hardcore scene…you all know the one!
Part 3 is coming on FRIDAY and part 4 next WEDNESDAY – and we’re peppering the fortnight with a bit of extra content that our MEMBERS RECEIVED FIRST!
