MAMPI SWIFT concludes his frankest interview ever, by speaking to ROAR regarding the commercialisation of the drum and bass and jungle scene, which has led to allegations of ‘racism’ and ‘whitewashing’ and seen industry leaders forced to do plenty of soul-searching over the past few years.

Pointing to the lack of diversity in modern DnB crowds, and increasingly behind the decks, despite the genre having been invented by a melting pot of cultures, Swift – AKA PHIL ANIM – justifiably tackles the questions: where have all the Black people gone, how it came to pass, and does DnB have a race problem?

Swift also teases his fans about what they can expect in the coming year, as his label CHARGE RECORDINGS celebrates its 25th birthday and he himself marks 30 years in the game – beginning with the fortnightly digital release of his back catalogue, which started last week, and several exciting events…if we ever get the bloody country back open!

Next up a week today, ROAR speaks to leading female rave DJ, Flashback promoter, and online ticketing svengali MISTRESS MO about her interesting and varied life running old school events in the ‘90s – and trying to answer the question why there have historically been so few female rave artists. **
